I’m not gonna lie. When I first saw the title of this book, I was a little hesitant. I know I’m in the sales business but I don’t like the idea of learning secrets to close the sale. Something about it sounds forced and like I’m manipulating people. Then I saw the author and I know that Zig Ziglar is a giant when it comes to business and strategy and well, I’m smart enough by now to know that I want to listen to smart people. So I pushed that silly pride aside. I am so glad I did. The first chapter, Zig drops one of his most famous lines and reading it in the context of this book was just amazing.
You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
Zig goes on to establish that this is the exact opposite of what most people think it takes to win at sales. Most people think that sales people are master manipulators and honestly it’s something I still struggle with in this industry. But there is a way to win at sales. There is a way to win and sell a lot and therefore make a lot of money without cheating people. I’m so tired of seeing sales and network marketing done wrong. Zig Ziglar was a master at teaching timeless principles about how to relate to people. That’s what this business is all about.
This book is definitely one that will stay on my shelf for me to reference over and over again.
