About a year ago my friend, Melissa, posted about adding Cinnamon Bark vitality to her coffee in the morning and I was intrigued. I added one drop to my french press and it was a game changer. I did it all fall and winter long and as soon as the weather started to cool off this year, I ordered a new bottle of Cinnamon Bark vitality.
Today I’m here to share 5 essential oils that will up your coffee game. But first, let’s get a few things straight.
I use a french press. Therefore there is no plastic involved in my coffee process. I do not know how this would work for a Keurig or with a standard coffee maker with a filter. Experiment if you are brave enough.
I have a small french press that makes 2 cups of coffee and I add 1-2 drops of oil to my coffee while it is steeping.
I only recommend this with Young Living essential oils. I know and trust their process. I’ve seen it first-hand and I know that my oils are not diluted with fillers or chemicals.
If you do not have a french press and want to try just adding the oil straight to your coffee, you can dip a toothpick in the oil and then swirl into your coffee mug.
When I tried all of these, I added them to Starbucks House Blend coffee that I brewed at home.
Cinnamon Bark Vitality- WARM AND TOASTY. Cinnamon bark essential oil is widely known to boost your immune system. It’s delicious too. Remember cinnamon bark is considered a hot oil so be careful while your adding this one to your coffee. If you get some on your hand, don’t wipe your eye. Been there, done that! Ouch.
Nutmeg Vitality- NUTTY AND BOLD. Nutmeg essential oils is widely known to balance your hormones. I love this oil so much for this reason. I’d never tried it in my coffee before though. Mmmmmm. Gosh it’s so good. I added two drops to my french press and let it steep. It’s nutty and adds a little boldness to my cup of coffee.
Bergamot Vitality and Clove Vitality- FRUITY AND SPICE. Okay so this one- I’m not sure if you’re ready. Word of caution, Bergamot is a citrus oil so it has a hint of that but it’s also a different taste you might not be ready for. The Clove balances it out but I also needed to add a little more sweetener to this one. Bergamot is great for calming and Clove is well-known for supporting the immune system and for cleansing. I added one drop of each to my two cup french press and it was plenty.
Peppermint Vitality- ENERGIZING. Peppermint in your coffee on a crisp fall day. The only thing better is peppermint in your coffee on a morning after it snowed all night. One drop is all I added to my french press and that was minty enough for two cups. Peppermint is a wake-you-up oil which makes it the perfect companion to a cup of coffee after a long night.
Lavender- FLOWERY. Lavender coffee is just as calming as it sounds. One drop for two cups of coffee is all you need. The aroma coming from your coffee cup will be amazing. I promise. Lavender is the mac-daddy of all essential oils, actually the swiss army knife. It’s amazing for calming and skin support and focus. It might just be the calm start to your morning that you need. Or maybe the perfect wind-down cup of coffee at the end of a long day. Either way, I don’t judge.
I hope you’ve been inspired to up your coffee game. Grab a vitality oil and experiment. Let me know if you try one of these. I’d love to know what you thought. Take a pic of your gourmet coffe and tag me on IG @kerryanntodd.
